EVER STOPPED TO ASK...
Why is it so hard to heal and have a healthy relationship with food and my body?
From food systems to fractured healthcare, misleading self-help to unrelenting work and 24-hour news, the infrastructure around us does not support durable health and well-being.
HEALTH DOESN'T COME IN TIDY PACKAGES.
Health is about freedom from pain, suffering, insecurity, fear and strict, regimented programs.
Sustainable well-being is rooted in 👉 safety, respect, systemic reinforcements, personal agency, connection and pleasure.
Getting there is a matter of strengthening our bodies, communities and safety nets.

Like you, I am a lot of things.
I’m a Mayo Clinic- and National Board-certified health coach, Forbes Health columnist, freelance journalist, National Strength and Conditioning Association certified personal trainer, speaker, and author of three books.
I’m a mom to one kid and two dogs and a champion of every human being's right to be in their body unapologetically and without fear of discrimination.
I’m also a person who struggled for over a decade with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and chronic pain. I know how it feels to be at war with your body and food, and I know how to find the way out.
I have spent the past 20 years—through books and articles, private and group coaching, university, non-profit, and corporate workshops—helping people put down the weapons of war against their own bodies and build innovative, thoughtful approaches to health and healing.
I work on two distinctly different fronts:
➡️ reporting on people and organizations working to create breakthrough solutions for challenges in health and healthcare
➡️ health coaching in private, group, and organizational settings to provide concrete, evidence-based tools for healing—rooted in kindness, creativity, community reinforcements, and steady exploration of the options at hand.
My books, workshops, journalistic work, and the Relief By Design course are all part of this work.
